The journey starts with a single step…

The journey starts with a single step…

In April, 2018, I decided to try affiliate marketing, to learn how to do it, in order to (ideally) achieve financial independence, or at least to replace some of my present income, possibly eventually all of it.

This blog will tell my story.

If you’re interested to know how and why, you can read all that “David Copperfield kind of crap” over here.

What I aim to do here is to track my progress, the steps I took and didn’t take, the mistakes, the shortcuts, etc., which might be of interest and use to other newbies starting out or thinking of trying affiliate marketing.

[Many, if not all, if the links in this and all other posts and pages on this site are affiliate links: if you click on one and eventually buy something through that link, I get a commission. You have been warned!]

Tom Woods is doing what I want to do – he’s written several books, and he’s created  online courses on US history, created courses for the Ron Paul Curriculum (a homeschooling curriculum). He hosts a daily podcast show (where does he get all the time?) And he’s got off the academic circuit.

I’m not a Tom Woods affiliate, by the way. Not yet, anyway.

I bought his book 5 Paths to an Online Income .

I was now on Tom Woods’ email list, the next email I got promoted a webinar with someone called Michael Cheney: “I’ve bought every product Michael Cheney has ever released”.

I plan to copy Tom Woods:

  • buy and study Michael Cheney’s products (which include training)
  • promote other people’s products, but only those that I’ve bought and used and benefited from myself
  • explore publishing my own book
  • explore podcasting
  • try out all the ways Tom recommends for earning money online.

So here’s the time line.

  1. 2018-04-03,  (that’s April 3rd, not March 4th) 21:45 – downloaded Tom Woods’ book 5 Paths to an Online Income
  2. 25 minutes later, downloaded Tom Woods’ book “Education without the State”  (I’m not an affiliate of these products, by the way; I promise to always let you know when I’m pushing a product I’m an affiliate of).
  3. April 13th, watched my first webinar with Cheney and Woods. That’s when I learned what webinars are for: to sell you the high-ticket product, in this case $2,000!! There was a lot of info and tips in the webinar, and I conscientiously took notes and screenshots, but have not had time to review it much. For a start, it requires a FB account which I don’t have, or a Twitter account (nope, not got that either). – I did not cough up the 2K smackers, dear reader.

To be continued…
